We held our 420th meeting together with Minami Aoyama Business Toastmasters Club on October 18th! It’s a long-standing tradition for our two clubs to hold a Halloween Joint Meeting, and we were thrilled to have them join us again this year. 🎃
We were also delighted to welcome two guests. After their self-introductions, TM C led the “Good and New” activity, where members shared something positive from the past 24 hours. Highlights included “moving from Kyoto to Tokyo” and “being lucky not to catch a cold”!

🎤 Prepared Speeches
We had five prepared speakers today, each delivering a unique and inspiring speech.
TM EC delivered her Ice Breaker Speech, sharing her belief that happiness can be a choice. We often complain instead of being grateful for what we already have, but her message reminded us that by choosing gratitude, we can find true happiness.
TM TM spoke about his hobby — singing in a Gospel team. Through his photos and stories, we could truly feel his passion. Hobbies bring fulfillment and joy to our lives. What about you? Do you have any niche hobbies? Share them with us next time!
TM TT shared his inspiring personal story about the power of taking the first step, recounting his experience of studying in Germany. We never know where that first step might lead, but what truly matters is having the courage to take it — because with or without that step, the outcome can be entirely different.

TM MC reflected on how far she has come in life. When she looked back, she realized she had already achieved a lot. During hard times, we often criticize ourselves and lose confidence, but those moments of struggle are just small dots on the timeline of life. Once we connect those dots, we realize we’ve always been forging our own path toward the future.
TM NO revisited her primary school teacher’s comments and discovered that her teacher had recognized her strengths long before she did. Sometimes, we only understand our good qualities much later in life. What about you? What did your teacher see in you? Perhaps those childhood strengths are still within you — waiting to be rediscovered and used with confidence.

🎲 Table Topics Session
The Table Topics Session, facilitated by TM NO, featured thought-provoking “What if” questions inspired by intriguing pictures, such as:
- “What if you could rewatch your dream from last night?”
- “What useless superpower would you like to have?”

💬 Evaluation Session
Our evaluators gave thoughtful and constructive feedback:
- TM SM delivered a balanced and encouraging evaluation.
- TM FS, giving his first evaluation, provided detailed and well-structured feedback.
- TM S offered vivid examples for improvement.

👏 Supporting Roles
Our supporting role players contributed greatly to the success of the meeting:

TM IY presented memorable phrases from the meeting and a clear Ah-Counter Report.
TM KP reported on the Word of the Day: “perplex,” noting how creatively members used it in their speeches.
TM SS, our General Evaluator, provided a very insightful overall evaluation. He humorously suggested that TM KK should have used his green dinosaur Halloween costume as the timer card — a hilariously practical idea! 🦖
