Get Ready to be Flabbergasted!!
With the typhoon that brought chaos to Tokyo thankfully behind us, our 387th meeting took place at Omotesando, graced by the presence of three guests. We began with our customary “Good and New” session, led by TM M, where members shared recent positive experiences. Some spoke about their language-learning journeys, while others discussed their favorite books. It was truly inspiring to hear what everyone is passionate about!
Thanks to the excellent leadership of our President and VPE, we were treated to two prepared speeches! TM I speeched about the origin of Bon Odori, whereas TM R shared flabberfasting speech about folklore from his birthplace. Both speakers coincidentally explored themes of spirits and ghosts, making for a delightfully eerie meeting! Congratulations to TM R for winning the Best Speaker award!
What If You Were a Vegetable
TM Y led a dynamic Table Topics session, where participants were challenged to give impromptu two-minute speeches on topics like “What if you were an animal for a day?” and “What would you invent for a lazy person?” Everyone rose to the challenge, and TM G won the Best Table Topics Speaker award with a creative and playful response to the question, “What if you were a vegetable?” Any guesses on his answer?
The General Evaluation session was expertly facilitated by TM K, with constructive feedback from our dedicated role takers. TM R and our guest, TM T, provided insightful and polished evaluations of the prepared speeches. I was impressed by how informative and valuable their reviews were. TM O reliably kept time for each speaker, TM Y highlighted both grammatical errors and noteworthy expressions, TM V presented a precise Ah-Counter report, and TM F monitored the use of the word of the day, “flabbergasted!”
We concluded the meeting with a relaxed gathering at a nearby café. Looking forward to seeing everyone in two weeks!
