We held our 416th meeting on August 30th with enthusiastic participation!
At the beginning of the meeting, we warmly welcomed our new member, TM Ev. She shared a vivid and inspiring story about the person who sparked her motivation to become a better speaker, and why she chose to join Toastmasters. Following this, TM Y led the “Good and New” activity, where members shared recent personal achievements and uplifting moments. Highlights included “Meeting friends from 15 years ago” and “Starting scuba diving”!
Next, we enjoyed three outstanding prepared speeches:
TM YM reminded us of the importance of living in the present. His key message—Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift—resonated deeply with the audience.
TM Aa (Super Kids TM) gave us a heartfelt toast speech.
TM Is delivered an insightful academic presentation on how art viewing can boost creativity.
The Table Topics session, facilitated by TM KK, invited participants to come up with creative excuses. Thought-provoking prompts included:
- “What excuse would you give if you ate your colleague’s food from the fridge?”
- “What excuse would you make if you accidentally sent an insulting message to your boss?”
These fun yet relatable questions sparked laughter and imagination, reminding us of those awkward moments when diplomacy matters most!
In the Evaluation session:
TM TT provided a well-balanced and constructive evaluation of TM Is’s speech
TM SS gave encouraging and positive feedback on TM A’s speech.
Our supporting role players also shined:
- TM F delivered a precise timer’s report—even though it was his first time in the role.
- TM SI highlighted memorable phrases from the meeting.
- TM SS reported how the word of the day, spark, was used.
- TM SY monitored filler words and praised members who are steadily improving.
Finally, TM MF gave a general evaluation, noting that the meeting was filled with positivity and learning.
