We held our 418th meeting on September 20th, once again filled with laughter and learning!
We were delighted to welcome two returning guests. After their self-introductions, TM SM led the “Good and New” activity, where members shared something positive from the past 24 hours. Highlights included “receiving a gas stove for free” and “finally getting a job offer”!
Next came two inspiring prepared speeches:
- TM IY reflected on leadership by sharing the stories of two legendary figures. He reminded us that true leaders are those who take the first step when everyone senses something is wrong.
- TM W entertained us with a five-minute tale of being “lost in translation,” an experience that resonated deeply with foreigners navigating Japanese in the workplace.
The Table Topics session, facilitated by TM SS, revolved around the theme of birthdays. Participants tackled thought-provoking questions such as:
- “If you could reset your age on your birthday, what age would you choose?”
- “If you could spend your birthday with a famous person, who would it be, and what would you do together?”

In the Evaluation Session:
- TM FT gave a balanced and constructive evaluation of TM IY’s speech.
- TM EC provided encouraging and positive feedback on TM W’s speech.
Our supporting role players also contributed greatly:
- TM C delivered an accurate timer’s report.
- TM MC highlighted memorable phrases from both prepared speeches.
- TM FS reported on the use of the word of the day, concise.
- TM HY kept track of filler words.
- TM R gave a general evaluation, applauding the “unseen heroes” behind the meeting while suggesting ways role takers can give clearer explanations for the benefit of guests.
During the award session, congratulations went to:
🏆 Best Table Topics Speaker: TM D AND TM MC.
TM D creatively, and with a delicate touch, explained why the next birthday present will be her best.
TM MC shared her imaginative idea of celebrating her birthday with Elon Musk.
