As the holiday season begins, we gathered at Omotesando for our final meeting of 2024. It was a lively session, with 14 members, including our newest member, and four guests joining us. That’s right—we have a new member! TM Ka officially joined our club after a heartwarming induction ceremony at the start of the meeting. Welcome aboard!

The meeting started smoothly under the expert guidance of TM Na, our TMOD for this meeting. The first session, Good and New, was led by TM No, where participants shared their recent positive moments. Highlights included achievements like “finishing a Japanese Taiga drama for the first time” and “successfully waking up on time after a nightmare about oversleeping for the meeting.”

We enjoyed an inspiring prepared speech by TM Y, who explored what truly makes us feel alive. It’s not just about balancing work and rest but embracing the dance between them, fueled by motivation. His message was powerful and left a lasting impact, thanks to his advanced vocal variety and his natural friendliness, which shone throughout the speech. It was a pleasure to listen to. Thank you, TM Y!

Our Table Topics session was a unique and fun experience. Led by TM Sp, we all took on the challenge of delivering either a joke or an impromptu speech in a friendly competition. The joke competition, in particular, created many “victims,” but we turned the awkward moments into shared laughter. It was the perfect way to wrap up our journey through 2024 with smiles and joy.

TM Ro delivered a thoughtful evaluation of TM Y’s prepared speech, providing professional and constructive feedback. Throughout the meeting, TM M diligently kept us on track with timely timer’s reports, while TM Ki shared a warm Ah-Counter report. TM O highlighted how each participant incorporated the Word of the Day, “inclination,” a versatile term that wonderfully conveys a tendency. TM Su gave a detailed and insightful grammarian’s report, kindly listing noteworthy expressions from the meeting that we might want to use in the future. Finally, TM Ra wrapped up the session with a thorough General Evaluation, spotlighting the valuable contributions of all attendees.

After the meeting, we enjoyed a fun and lively 忘年会 dinner. Many of us were still under the influence of the contagious “joke fever” from earlier, turning the dinner into a delightful chaos filled with laughter. We had a blast with spy games hosted by TM Ra and hilarious impressions of world political icons, adding even more humor to the evening.

Our next meeting will be on January 11th in Azabu, a different venue from usual. It will be conducted in Japanese. See you there!
