424th Meeting Report

We held our 424th meeting and happily welcomed a new member, TM Chijiwa! 🙌

We also had three guests. One of them decided to join after the meeting, and another walked in right when we were discussing who should take the timer role—a perfect “Just-in-Timer” moment. 😃

🌟 Good & New
Good & New is a long-standing tradition of Omotesando Bilingual Toastmasters.
This time, members shared:

・Realizing that slowing down can help us rediscover the joy in life
・Hosting their very first offline English-learning event
・Being approached on the street to model for a hairstylist

Prepared Speeches✨

We had two prepared speakers, including one Icebreaker—always a special moment.

TM MH delivered a humorous Icebreaker speech.
He introduced himself as a hamburger lover who always eats every leaf of lettuce so he won’t waste food. He also reflected on how, as adults, we accumulate more labels and our self-introductions become longer than when we were children. His message was a gentle reminder to introduce who we truly are, just as he did with his simple and sincere “I love hamburgers, and I eat all the lettuce.”

TM RW gave an inspiring speech on why he still uses a camera instead of a smartphone to capture life’s beauty. He talked about the value of persistence, of sticking to something even when you make mistakes—because “there’s no value in something that never goes wrong.” Throughout his speech, he projected photos taken with his camera every few seconds, creating an immersive and deeply engaging experience.

Table Topics Session

TM TK led the Table Topics session with thought-provoking questions themed around year-end reflection.
For example:

  • How would you score yourself this past year?
  • Did you cry this year?
  • Did you grow this year?

Time flies—it’s already the end of the year! Have you reviewed your 2025? What did you achieve, and what are your New Year’s resolutions?

Evaluation

TM CP, shared personal examples that connected directly with TM MH’s key points and echoed what many of us felt about the speech. He also emphasized, humorously and earnestly, the importance of not wasting food.

TM DH provided thoughtful feedback for TM RW. She highlighted the depth of his message—the meaningful spirit of perseverance—and offered a constructive suggestion: inviting short reactions from the audience when they visibly nodded at his rhetorical questions.
