We held our 428th meeting on February 7th, and we were delighted to welcome three guests!
🌟 Good & New
Good & New is a long-standing tradition of Omotesando Bilingual Toastmasters.
This time, members shared the following highlights:
- Losing 10 kilograms compared to last year
- Enjoying a whole week without her manager
- Realizing he has the skill to multitask
- Being stopped by a hairdresser and getting a free haircut
Prepared Speeches✨
We had two prepared speakers, .
・TM MK, delivered a speech expressing her view that simply attending Toastmasters meetings does not equal real progress. She motivated all of us to move forward with our Pathways projects. She also ingeniously used the Word of the Day, “abstain” in an impromptu way by saying “Do not abstain from making speeches.”
・TM SS, led an open discussion about helping at the annual conference. His presentation included many photos showing people laughing and enjoying the speeches. His speech showed members how fun and educational the annual conference can be, and several members expressed their interest in serving as helpers at the National Contest.
🗣️ Table Topics Session ✨
TM EC led the Table Topics session with thought-provoking and humorous questions, such as:
- You’re in a meeting, nodding seriously… but you don’t understand anything. What’s your survival strategy?
- You teach something you learned last week. How do you avoid being discovered?
- People think you are smart. You don’t know why. What is your secret?
📝 Evaluation ✨
TM HN pointed out how TM MK effectively uses short phrases between sentences, making her speech more powerful and impactful.
He also suggested making fuller use of the stage, rather than staying on just one side.
TM IY gave an accurate Timer’s Report.
TM DH presented memorable phrases from the meeting. Her report was very detailed and full of learning points.
TM T gave a clear Ah-Counter Report.
TM MH reported on the Word of the Day: “abstain”
TM KK, our General Evaluator, provided a very insightful overall evaluation.
