We had a fantastic joint meeting with Sunrise Toastmasters Club! With the warm welcome of as many as eight guests, we all enjoyed a lively and engaging session, thanks to the seamless and professional facilitation of our TMOD, TM Si.
The meeting began with a one-of-a-kind fun game hosted by TM L. In teams of two, members tackled intriguing questions, such as the founding year of the Toastmasters Club. Everyone was fully immersed in the quiz, aiming for top scores, as the excitement in the room reached new heights. Did you know that Toastmasters was founded in November 1924? We’re celebrating its 100th anniversary!
We then had the pleasure of listening to an inspiring prepared speech by TM OY, who delivered a heartfelt message: “Don’t run away. Each of us has fears to confront. Instead of avoiding them, share your story with others—it might inspire them.” Her words were gentle yet powerful, resonating deeply with us all. Thank you, TM OY, for your speech!
Next, TM KM shared her journey as the Vice President of Education for the Omotesando Bilingual Toastmasters Club. She spoke candidly about the challenges of her demanding role but also highlighted the joy of making a meaningful impact. Thank you, TM KM, for your dedication and for sharing your inspiring experiences with us.
Following these two remarkable prepared speeches, we moved on to the Table Topics session, led by TM Ra. She encouraged us to think on our feet with five intriguing impromptu questions, including, “If you could choose a New Year’s resolution for someone else, who would it be and what would you pick?” It was such an unexpected yet thought-provoking prompt! TM Su impressed everyone with their response and earned the Best Table Topics Speaker award.
During the General Evaluation session, TM M provided insightful feedback on TM OY’s speech, while TM KE offered thoughtful remarks on TM KM’s presentation. TM N kept us on track with a detailed timing report, and TM Ro helped us reflect on our speaking habits by identifying filler words. As grammarian, TM OT highlighted noteworthy expressions, and TM Si celebrated those who successfully incorporated the word of the day, “propel,” into their speeches.
A big thank you to the members of Sunrise Toastmasters Club and our wonderful guests—we truly cherished this time together!
Our next meeting in Japanese will mark a major milestone: the 400th meeting of the Omotesando Bilingual Toastmasters Club! It’s been 15 years since our club was founded, and we’d love for you to join us for this special celebration!
