362nd Meeting Report

Another fabulous meeting at the Omotesando Bilingual Club. We held our 362nd meeting at our usual venue in Aoyama. The meeting was commenced by our veteran Toastmaster, TM M. His enthusiasm always lures everyone’s attention, and keep us engaged. We had one prepared speaker for this week’s meeting, and this was TM J, who has recently joined us! His speech titled, “Confidence: A bad indicator of competence” was a speech about how competence does not grow linearly with confidence. When we initially start learning something new, we tend to get overconfident about the subject; however, after spending significant amount of time, we notice how much we don’t know about the subject, leading us to become unconfident. TM J concluded the speech with reassuring words that with tenacity of overcoming this slump, we all can gain both competence and confidence. This was TM J’s first ever speech. Well done TM J! Our table topics session hosted by TM T. For this week’s table topics, we all had to imagine ourselves in outer space, and what we would do if we all had the freedom of traveling anywhere. The variety of responses were very fun to listen to. Some were very scientific and some were very creative. After all the sessions, TM O elegantly wrapped up the meeting as the general evaluator, and our 362nd meeting came to an end.
Our next meeting will be hosted on Saturday 7th October and this will be in Japanese; if you are interested in our club, please join us! See you at our next meeting!
