Bustling Meeting in Blistering Summer

The rainy season has officially ended, ushering in Tokyo’s blistering summer heat. Despite the sweltering weather, we came together for our 385th meeting, and it turned out to be one of the most vibrant and bustling session we’ve ever had!

The meeting was led by TM Y, whose insightful remarks truly enriched the whole meeting. We kicked things off by sharing our recent good news, one by one, guided by TM E. It was another great opportunity to get to know each other better!

Laid-Back Guide to Speech Prep

TM S delivered a laid-back prepared speech, filled with engaging interactions with the audience. The topic was how to overcome challenges in preparing a speech, and I, the writer, personally found it incredibly helpful, all while enjoying the relaxed and inspiring atmosphere.

If You Were a Millionaire

The table topics session, organized for the first time by TM V, went really smoothly. He asked speakers to discuss “what would you do if you were a millionaire” in various intriguing situations, like being kidnapped! We all had a great time with this creative prompt. There were five speeches in total, and TM F won the best speaker award. Well done, TM F!

Constructive Critiques and Cafe Delights

The general evaluation session was presented by TM M, with excellent contributions from various role takers. TM R provided precise timing feedback, TM F gave a comprehensive grammarian report, TM Y offered analytical insights on excessive filler word usage, TM N tracked the usage of the word of the day (“Bustling!”), and TM I evaluated the prepared speech. TM M wrapped up the session with very constructive feedback for both the speakers and the meeting organizers.

Afterward, we headed to a cafe, where we shared stories, laughed, and relaxed together. I can’t wait for the next meeting!
